HIMOR: this year
HIMOR: this year's Christmas Card Design Competition  sponsor

I’m proud to launch my 2020 Christmas Card Design Competition. Any child or young person living in the Stretford and Urmston constituency is welcome to enter and I have written to the local schools, inviting them to take part.

I am very grateful to Carrington-based business HIMOR, who is generously sponsoring the competition again. I am delighted to have their support and I have asked HIMOR to help me choose the winning entries.

If you’d like to take part, here’s what you need to do:

  • Download the Christmas Card template: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R5VDEuPBdXkhUDTTKSVgyEsl3DOxusFg/view?usp=sharing
  • Get your child to use the computer to create their design.
  • If you would prefer, they could also create the design free hand. However, because of the need to scan the designs and send them to the printers, please ensure the designs are drawn using pens and pencils only.
  • If you’re creating a freehand design, please use strong, bright colours as they look best when the card is printed.

The winning design will appear on the front of the card, and designs by the 4 runners up and a selection of other entries will be printed inside the card.

Please be aware that if a child’s entry is chosen to appear on the card, then their design, name, age and school will be visible. I also hope to use photos of the winning child receiving their prize on my social media channels and website and I plan to share the image with the local press. With that in mind, I would request that you only encourage children to submit an entry if you are happy for these details to be shown on the final card and for the image to be shared.

I usually arrange to visit the winner of the competition, present them with their prize and have photographs taken with them which I use to publicise their achievement and thank HIMOR for their support for the competition. We may have to do things slightly differently this year, but I hope that that I will have the opportunity to meet the winner and to present the award in a COVID-secure way.

I know it’s very early to be thinking about Christmas, but I need to give time for the pupils to complete their designs, and to have the cards printed in time for the Christmas mail. I’d therefore be grateful if you’d send the entries to kate.green.mp@parliament.uk by no later than Tuesday 3 November 2020. Or, alternatively, you can post them to: Stretford Public Hall, Chester Road, Stretford, M32 0LG.

I do hope that children within the constituency decide to take part in the competition, and I look forward to receiving entries. If you’ve got any questions, please send me an email, or call my office on 0161 749 9120.
