I’ve recently been made aware that Trafford’s Outbreak Management Plan for Covid-19 has now been published.
The plan describes what the Council and the Public Health team are doing to prevent future outbreaks of Covid-19 in Trafford and sets out how they would respond if further outbreaks were to occur.
Pages 7-8 describe the testing offers available. The plan also describes the difference between antigen testing (to see if you have the disease now) and antibody testing (to see if you have had the disease and developed antibodies). I’ve been advised that it is still not clear if having antibodies gives immunity to Covid-19 and so the antibody testing remains part of the research programme. This is why antibody testing is not yet being rolled out more widely.
Our local Public Health team are also looking at ways to improve access to testing, particularly in areas such as Partington where many people do not have access to a car.
