Yesterday (Monday 23 March), the Prime Minister announced new measures to tackle the spread of COVID-19.
The latest advice from the government is to stay at home and only go out for the following reasons:
- Buying essential food supplies, as little as possible.
- One form of exercise per day (e.g. walk, run or cycle) either alone or with members of your household.
- Travelling to and from work but only when this is absolutely necessary ad your work can’t be done from home.
- Medical needs such as collecting a prescription or looking after a vulnerable person.
If you do need to leave your home remember to:
- Keep your distance from others – stay at least 2 metres (6ft) away.
- Do not gather in groups of more than two people.
- Wash your hands as soon as you get home.
All non-essential shops and community spaces have been closed, the full list of premises which must remain closed can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close?fbclid=IwAR2lPkvJUlVl-mJKlMP1uV0fs1XeqraUDcNjYwxkqCHrDcvMmyQSgmIHf8c
This morning, the Cabinet Office Minister, Michael Gove, said that children who’s parents live separately could be moved from parent to another if this is kept to a minimum.
The government will review these measures again in three weeks to see if evidence shows that they can be relaxed.
Remember – if you have symptoms of covid-19 (a high temperature and a new, continuous cough) then please stay at home and don’t go out even for essentials.
Please stay safe and continue to look after each other during this difficult time.
