Kate at the Climate Assembly
Kate at the Climate Assembly

On Sunday 26 January I was really pleased to attend the Citizens’ Assembly organised by six House of Commons committees with a remit on different aspects of climate change. The assembly consists of 110 people from across the country, from all different walks of life, brought together to discuss how the UK can reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.

Over the next few weeks, three further meetings of the assembly will take place. The discussions will be used to make recommendations to be considered by the select committees, giving the public the opportunity to contribute directly to vital climate change debates in parliament.

It was so rewarding to listen to the discussions and I’m really looking forward to seeing the outcome of this process. You can watch my thoughts about the Climate Assembly below, including my message to the participants (one of whom is from Stretford)!
