Together with the vast majority of MPs, Kate voted against Theresa May’s Brexit deal on Tuesday 15th January.
Following the vote, Kate said, “Last night’s result was shockingly bad for the Prime Minister, exposing how little support her Brexit deal commands in parliament. You’d expect any Prime minister who loses by such a huge vote on such a significant issue for the country to stand down immediately – it’s disgraceful that Theresa May is clinging on to power. Today, Labour will force a vote of no confidence in her government to attempt to force the general election the country is entitled to expect when it’s clear the government is no longer able to govern.
And if we can’t get a general election then my view is that we should give people a final say through a public vote on the Brexit Deal. Read the statement I’ve supported today, along with Labour MPs and MEPs, here.”
