On Tuesday 30 October I went before a committee of MPs to make a formal request for a debate in Parliament on protection for homebuyers, an important step towards urging the Government to introduce tougher regulations on companies like Persimmon.
The cross-party committee recognised the importance of this issue to people up and down the country, and although there is no time left to allocate this year in the Commons Chamber, have agreed to hold a debate in Westminster Hall. The date is still to be decided but should be before Christmas.
I am pleased to be moving forward with this important issue on behalf constituents and the wider public who have had to put up with shoddy building work, dangerous homes and terrible customer services.
I will post full details of the debate once the date is agreed.
