During the COVID-19 outbreak our NHS needs volunteers to help the most vulnerable people in our community to stay well and to relieve pressure on services. There’s lots of different things volunteers are needed for including:
Collecting shopping, medication and other essential supplies for people who are self-isolating and delivering these to their home.
Phoning people for a chat who are at risk of loneliness.
Providing transport for patients who are fit to be discharged from hospital and ensuring they’re settled back into their home.
Transporting equipment, supplies and/or medication between NHS services and sites.
Kate has signed up to volunteer in our community and you can do the same here: https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS
To volunteer you must be over 18, with no symptoms. If you are in a higher-risk group (e.g. over 70, pregnant, with underlying medical conditions) you can still volunteer to help to offer support over the phone. Please also read through advice on social distancing measures carefully when signing up as a volunteer.
Do share this information with anyone who might be able to offer their time to help our NHS through these difficult times.
