The school summer holidays are in full swing, and I hope that everyone has been enjoying a bit of a break! Parliament is on its summer break too, which means I get to spend a lot more time back up in my constituency. I’ve really enjoyed getting out and about in Partington. It’s been nice to be able to make the most of our green spaces locally, like the fabulous Oak Road Park. And it was great to get along to the Dean Trust’s fabulous schools’ summer fair and present winners with their raffle prizes!

I was also very pleased to visit Partington Library, along with Councillor Adele New, to donate some children’s books to support the Summer Reading Challenge. This is a brilliant scheme which encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six library books during the long summer holiday. That might sound a lot, but children can read whatever books they like, as long as they are borrowed from the library, there’s a certificate for every child who completes the challenge, and even medals for children who read the most books! Visit the library for more details or read more online at https://readingagency.org.uk/children/quick-guides/summer-reading-challenge/.

I know there will be many more great events going on round here over the summer, like the fun day at the Rainbow Café, and I hope you all manage to get out and enjoy what’s on offer. Although I’m not holding my drop-in surgery at the Rainbow Café this month because of the summer holidays, you can still get in touch with my office or 0161 749 9120 or e-mail me on kate.green.mp@parliament.uk. I’m always happy to help where I can.
