This November, the UK is expected to host the United Nations climate change conference known as COP26.
I’m keen that UK government ministers and officials attending the conference will know what’s important to my constituents. Between now and November, I’ll be arranging a number of events and opportunities for local people to share their views.
COP26 will cover a lot of different themes, including transport, energy use, waste recycling, and air quality.
Air quality is exceptionally poor in parts of my constituency, and that causes all sorts of health problems, especially for children and older people. Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has some great plans to clean up our air, Trafford Council wants to improve air quality around our schools, and I know it’s something that really concerns local people. I think we can all agree with Clean Air Greater Manchester when they say ‘ 150 years ago Greater Manchester got clean water. It’s time we got clean air.’
If you’d like to be part of my climate campaign for COP26, to hear more about events and initiatives taking place in my constituency in the coming months, and to share your ideas, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ll make sure to keep you uptodate with everything that’s going on.
