Litter and potholes
STOP PRESS: After the worst winter in decades, the Labour government will provide money to deal with the potholes that have resulted from the ice and snow. The March Budget announced an extra £196,000 for Trafford which may only be spent on road repair, and Trafford will have to publish a short public report to show where it is being spent.
Labour’s Kate Green was really pleased: “Roads across the Borough have suffered from the frosts which have opened up potholes. This makes roads more difficult, and often more dangerous and I’ve had lots of complaints from residents. I am delighted that the Government has prioritised Trafford in this way, and will be watching to make sure that the money is used across the whole borough, and not just in the leafy south.”

Residents across the constituency have been in touch with complaints about the state of our streets. Now that the snowy weather’s cleared, we’re left with potholes across the constituency.
“Let me know about potholes in your street – our local Labour Councillors and I will take up the matter with Council officers.
Litter’s a problem too. While parts of the borough – especially in the south – are kept clear of litter, in the north of the borough there are lots of problems. The Council’s “aware” of them – but that’s not good enough, we need them dealt with.
Litter is a health hazard, it’s unsightly and unpleasant for local residents, and damaging for local business. We all have a responsibility to help keep our streets litter-free, but criminal fly-tipping is also a problem – and we need the Council to take action. Tippers can be prosecuted if they’re caught, but the mess needs to be cleared away urgently too.
I’m asking residents to let me know wherever you have local litter problems. If you’d like to support my campaign to keep Stretford and Urmston streets safe and litter-free, contact me on kate@stretfordurmstonlabour.org.uk
